Mandy greeted us at our first meeting with joy and love, and within minutes of our efforts to take satisfactory photos of her we were sitting and then lying on her dog bed with her and hugging her.
She is so loving that she just invites more love back. She plays fetch tirelessly with her rope toy, and loves treats, for which she is indescribably gentle-mouthed, but we believe she would forsake food and her beloved toys for petting. She is capable of excellent play and a beautiful mover outdoors, but she is also extremely calm and stable, so that hanging out with her is pure pleasure. She is hopeful without being presumptuous, although that could certainly change :), and she is very open and direct in her eye contact.
So far, she is impeccably housebroken, communicative of her needs, and fluent in come and sit. Her only "vice" is an enthusiastic greeting in which she jumps up, but she is also considerate about how she places her weight.
She is a wonderful size - more compact and sturdy than a Foxhound, and her legs do not have the Foxhound length, but she is still beautiful and elegant, especially in motion. She lifts her front right paw when she is standing at alert. Her back is long, and her colors are striking. She has lots of speckles, and a sparkling quality to the white portion of her coat.
We don't mean to sound so taken by Mandy, but honestly, we are. She is very young - about one year old - and her poise and trust are very endearing. We also noted that although her foster mom's dogs relative relationship with Mandy re. the current pecking order was not entirely clear, they both seemed happy and relaxed with her. Like everyone who meets her -- human or animal -- Mandy's goodness and friendly nature is immediately clear.
