My Story

Hello everyone!!! I'm a little sheltie that is very confused right now. You see, I once had a home but one day I was dropped off in a strange place and my owners drove away. I waited and waited but they did not return. I wandered around for a bit and finally ended up in a cage in a very loud place with many other dogs. I thought surely my owners would come for me. They didn't. I waited. People came and looked at me but took the young, happy dogs. Don't get me wrong, I was happy they got to leave this horrid place but, finally, I gave up hope. No one would want an old, dirty, matted dog. I closed my eyes and tried to tune out the noise and the smell of death and tried to remember happier times. Why did they leave me? I tried to be a good dog for many years. The food they fed here hurt my teeth to chew so I didn't eat. Someone said I needed to have them cleaned but no one did it. They said I only had "one more day". Not sure what that meant but a nice lady came in the next day and told me she would take me to someplace called "rescue". I even got to ride in her car! She bathed and brushed the smell of that place from me and trimmed my nails so my feet didn't hurt anymore. I had a dish of GOOD food and took a nap. It felt so good to be clean and out of all that noise. This lady gave me a new name. It makes people laugh and I like the sound of it. Guess I'll keep it. Don't know what is going to happen to me now but this lady says that someone with a big heart will take me home with them after they get to know me. One thing puzzles me. I see many old people in the world. How old do people have to be to get dumped by the side of the road like I was?

McCain is another of our senior dogs. We have found that he is visually impaired. Please don't let this discourage you from considering him. This little dog is very adaptable. We can teach you anything you need to know about living with this handicap. He will be neutered, brought up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested and receive a dental cleaning. No, you won't have all of his "yesterdays" but still have time to make memories of today. This guy deserves to live out his life in a comfortable, loving home.
