My Story

ADOPTION AUG 11-09: Minnie got the PAWFECTEST home she could ever have found! She loved her Mom and Dad the minute she saw them. Here's the message I got from her Mom:

"We were there to get Minnie right around 1, your dad was great! He told us Minnie would be shy and timid at first and to give her time to warm up. We walked in and she just jumped all over us like we were long lost buddies. Chicklet was fine with her right off. We took a different way home to be a little less boring and stopped several times to get Minnie out to stretch her legs. She loved to smell around all the truck stops.

When we finally got home and got her out she smelled and explored outside for a long time. We have a really big fenced yard and she seems to really like being outside. Then she came in and explored the whole house and came out of somewhere with a bone and carried it around.

She seems to have an attachment to my husband and was bugging him while he was trying to play his video games which I thought was very cute! And she loved to look out our glass front door out at the street. I thought I'd let her relax and figure it out tonight and in the morning I'm going to take her for a short walk. I don't want to over do it but if I can get her moving and get some weight off I think she will feel better. She seems to love to walk from when she was on a leash when we stopped today.

Thank you so much for the goodies! The bed is so great, it's so nice of you to send a bed with all the kids. I'm afraid she may have to share it with the other kids too, they all like it! She layed on it for a break earlier in between exploring. So far everyone acts totally normal like she's always been here 'and she seems to be settling in and likes us. She seems very well behaved! Thanks for what you do for dogs. I'm glad there are other dog lovers out there! I'll let you know more updates as she continues to explore and settle in. Shes laying at my feet right now on the carpet. :)"
AUG 8-09: My name is Minnie and at this time in my life, all 17 years of it, I didn't think I'd be homeless, but here I am. My Mom couldn't keep me and Rudy anymore so FluffyButts said we could hang out at Hotel Jordan until we found our very own retirement homes.

All I'm looking for is a place that is warm in the winter, cool in the summer, a comfy bed to lay my old bones on, and some good food and even better lovin. I'm no trouble and if you're just looking to give an old girl a retirement home, for someone to hang out with, please, fill out the application. Thank you.

Minnie's adoption donation is $50.

Please be patient with us - we're taking care of a lot of kids - our own and the foster kids - and we have families, homes and full time jobs. We're giving meds to the sick kids, playing with the healthy kids, and loving on all the kids. We're doing their laundry, trying to teach them manners and where to do their business, and cleaning up their accidents. In other words, we're just a little busy but we'll return email inquiries just as fast as we pawssibly can. Thanks!
ADOPTIONS:
We don't let the fact that you might live out of state stop any adoption that's meant to be, but you MUST be willing to drive, or fly, all the way to pick up your new family member. We do not ship these kids on airplanes by themselves - we think they'd have a hard time getting through security without their rabies tag setting off the metal detectors. If the kid needs a health certificate because they're flying home, that will be an expense for the new family.

ADOPTION DONATIONS:
When you see the adoption donation amounts, we'd like you to know that 90% of the time the donation amount doesn't even come close to covering that kid's dogtor bills. This is definitely not a money-making venture. We're usually so far in the hole but the impawtant thing is to get these kids the medical care they need and help them find the pawfect family. That's our top pawority. (I just can't resist using "paw" whenever I can!)

POTTY TRAINING:
Please note that we NEVER say our kids are 100% potty-trained. How stupid would we be to say something like that? If you're willing to be trained by your new family member, please fill out an application. If you're looking for a totally potty-trained kid, you may as well stop at the toy store on your way home from work and buy a stuffed toy because those are the only reliable ones to NOT potty in your home. There is a period of adjustment, not just for the new family member but for everyone in the house. You must be patient, understanding, and willing to work with your new family member. It can take anywhere from several days to several months. You must be 100% committed to this, it's a lifetime commitment.
