My Story

Papa and his pal, Mama, were found on the side of the road near Cortana Mall; they had no food or water, and they were close to a dangerous intersection. Once rescued, Papa went to the vet for shots, neutering, and a heartworm check (he is negative). Papa is very a very sweet, people-oriented dog; he loves to cuddle and be petted. When he isn’t getting enough attention, he falls on his back and asks for a belly rub. He loves to be brushed, and he tolerates baths. He likes toys and chew bones, but he really loves food treats, so he will be easy to train. He is walking on a leash pretty well. Papa and Mama have been living in our kitchen, and he has had no accidents, so I believe he is house trained. Papa gets scared easily, so he needs people who will work with him and will be understanding. When we first found Papa, we thought he was aggressive toward other animals, but it turns out that he was only acting that way to protect Mama. Papa is actually timid around other animals, but he is not aggressive toward them (unless he thinks the other animal is threatening Mama). We tested him with cats, and he is a bit scared, but he is okay with them. He should be okay with other dogs, as long as he introduced slowly and carefully. Ideally, he and Mama would like to find a home together, but he should do well in just about any home.
