7/14.09-YAY!!!! Peanut has been adopted!!!!
PEANUT is a beautiful 9-year-old German shepherd/husky who has been cast out of the home where he has lived since he was a puppy. When two young boys teased and tormented Peanut for hours, unsupervised by their fathers, who were a short distance away, Peanut became fed up and let one of the children know it. Consequently, Peanut's owner, who did not think it was important to supervise his son and his son's company, decided that Peanut should die because he was not willing to placidly tolerate the tormenting. AWF believes PEANUT, who has proven to be an ideal dog in his foster home, deserves the chance that his former family did not provide -- to live out his senior years in a safe and loving environment where he does not have to endure tormenting and teasing. PEANUT is OK with other dogs, but is pretty much indifferent to them. That is because he is totally focused on humans and loves being with them. Peanut is a really awesome dog, so please contact us so you can meet him!! Peanut does need a fenced in yard. If you would like to meet this handsome boy, contact Nancy at 563-826-2208 or
[email protected]. No homes with small children.

We have an all volunteer staff so your entire fee goes towards saving AWF's rescue animals. If your donation covers Peanut's medical costs, then the remainder of your donation will go towards helping save another homeless pet!
No adoptions outside of a 50-mile radius of Cedar Rapids.
Breed Disclosure: Due to the fact that most of our adoptable pets are strays, we can not guarantee their breed. We list the pet’s breed as the one that best matches the physical appearance, temperament, and personality of the animal. The pet may also be listed as a mix when it’s actually a purebred.
