Penny Lane is a love of a dog -- sweet and kind, docile and seeking only affection and approval. Found as a stray by the animal control officer in a rural county, Penny quickly endeared herself to her caretakers through her ardent desire to gain their approval.
Penny is a daydreamer and a placid soul who savors every second of her daily walks. She is good on a leash and walks sedately alongside her human, taking advantage of a slower pace to sniff flowers and consider the world around her. She loves having a dog bed of her own, and her rapturous delight in receiving a humble Milk-Bone is heartwarming to see.
Penny is just slightly shy around people (perhaps for a few seconds), but after a few meetings, she will greet them like long-lost old friends. Likewise, she loves the other dogs in the neighborhood and has met all of them with appropriate and submissive behavior.
We learned of Penny as a result of a heartfelt email from a rural animal control officer, who went the extra mile to try to find someone who would be interested in giving this girl the one chance she would need to prove herself. This is significant since in the area where Penny was found, hounds are a dime a dozen, and a dog must be truly special to distinguish herself from the many others who pass through the door of animal control. That, to us, is the sign of an exceptional dog -- the one who makes champions out of the people who meet her.
