Philip has found his forever home with the Keady family in Mansfield, MA
UPDATE 4/5: Philip is being fostered in Waltham, MA. Please apply for him now!
We belive Philip is a pure-bred Mountain Cur but we listed him as lab mix just because most New Englanders do not search on 'mountain cur,' yet most lab lovers would love these dogs. He is just gorgeous and at 1 year old weighing 38 pounds, he will be a medium sized dog fully grown. He was found wandering in a parking lot but came right over to his rescuer when called. He is loving towards all people and has the best personality. He did chase cats in the south, but see below as to his progress with that. He is crate trained and nearly house trained (prior to being in New England, he had been living outdoors). Here is what his Waltham foster dad has to say about him: "he has been exceptional around every dog he has met, always submissive and never scared. He saw some cats today and watched them but never went after them. I think as long as you are not a squirrel or a rabbit you are safe - otherwise he goes into his "hunting mode". He walks wonderfully on a leash, and unless he is in his hunting mode there is slack - he'll walk right next to you and rarely tugs. He also responds very well to "no" and "Phillip" which is also really helpful. My girlfriend took him to campus and everybody loved him. Michelle made a little bandanna that says "Adopt Me! Love, Phillip" and has generated some interest around campus. He was given so much attention that he became a campus celebrity. He came home with an largely inflated ego. Today I was walking him and three children (ages 6-10) ran up on his flank to pet him. He didn't flinch, just sat down and let them pet and pull on him. He really loves the attention. Every time he sees someone his little tail wags very fast and he snuggles up to everyone near him. People comment about how beautiful he is and his "perfect" size and calm demeanor." Philip would love a family with another dog he could run and play with or a family who can provide him with lots of long walks or trips to the dog park. His adoption fee is $375.

We are a network of foster homes in the South and the New England area. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC SHELTER LOCATION. If you wish to meet our dogs, you must first be approved by going through our application and screening process.
Forever Home Rescue suggests obedience training for all puppies and dogs. All dogs are up to date on their shots, dewormed and spayed or neutered. Vet fees, transport fee and New England quarantine fees ARE INCLUDED in each dog's adoption fee. Also, any dogs older than pups--even if they are not marked housetrained in their posting---usually housetrain within a day or two, because most are used to living outside in the south and will prefer to "do their business" outdoors.
