My Story

Polly was found back in May of 2022 in the middle of a busy highway, eating a cardboard moving box in the rain. She was emaciated, her eyes were badly infected, and her hair was patchy... where she had hair it was very thin and badly damaged. However, she was as sweet as pie and just wanted love and food. During her recovery, she blew out her coat and now has a luscious thick coat that anyone would love. She has a chicken allergy that will need to be adheared to strictly as she will become itchy and lose patches of hair. She is very smart and is house and crate-trained. She does well on the leash and has obedience training. She is also quiet and will let you know when she needs to go potty with a single bark. Due to Polly’s difficult life up until this point, we think she would be best in a only-dog home. Polly does have aches and pains at times due to arthritis. She does require maintenance for her arthritis. It is manageable with joint supplements and carprofen on select bad days. For this reason we do recommend a child free home although she's been amazing with kids. She should go to an experienced owner who understands her breed and her health limitations. As her back can hurt, she understandably needs a break, especially if she is very active that day. It is important for her to remain at a healthy weight due to her aches and pains. She does not like people in her face. She will go to her crate when she needs a break but loves to be loved. She will need a home that understands she loves you and will come to you for a few minutes for attention but she wants her own space. She doesn't want 24/7 affection. She doesn't want kisses or hugs and those are hard limits for her. Again she will require a dog, cat child free home. * She does have a bite history (handler admitted it was her fault and Polly gave multiple warnings before) that will be discussed with any serious potential adopters.
