These dogs are currently in our care with the help of our partners in the area. These dogs will all travel to the Niagara Region once an appropriate adopter or local foster is found. Pollyanna has never met a stranger and is excited about every new person she meets. She is the absolute happiest when she is with her people. Good with kids: VERY! She loves kids and follows them around like a shadow. Good with other dogs: Yes, totally submissive and playful. Annoys the older foster dog, because she wants to play, but she is never rough with him. She runs the yard with her foster sister and snuggles with everyone in bed. Good with cats: Yes! She wants to make friends with them very badly and they are not reciprocal. She has taken a few swats to the nose and runs like the wind. House Trained: Yes, she has never had an inside accident. Crate Trained: Yes, but does not like it much and cries. Energy Level: Medium, when she is indoors, she’s mostly a lazy couch potato. Especially when she is with her people on the couch watching TV. She does get the zoomies and will run around in the yard or throw her stuffies around. Can be handled and touched: Yes, absolutely loves it. Loves hugs, touching her people while she sits, and snuggling at night. Barker: Sometimes, squirrels are a big trigger for Pollyanna Flight risk: No Food Aggression: None, she eats with her six foster dog siblings and two foster cat siblings present. Walks on a Leash: Yes, very well. Likes to stay close and does not pull. Rides well in car: Yes Destructive: Sometimes, she has a thing for pillows and books. It only happens when she is alone in her room. She does not seek them out. Her only bad habit, truly. Needs home with a yard: Yes Need a home with other dog: No, she would be happy with or without a doggo sibling. Can live in an apartment: No Personality Notes: Pollyanna is a lover. She loves all people and animals (except squirrels) and has never met a stranger. She wants to say hi to everyone she meets on a walk and is great about not jumping on people. She is desperate to please, so she gets her feelings hurt when she gets in trouble, for chewing a book for example, and has very “I’m sorry” eyes that will melt your heart. I have never been mad at Pollyanna for more than a minute or two at a time. She came from a high kill shelter in Texas where she was picked up as a stray on Valentine’s Day. She stayed at the shelter, because the shelter staff thought she was a special dog and gave her many months longer than most dogs get. She was on her final days there when rescue stepped in to save her. She got incredibly lucky and lives her life in a full, pure way that is infectious. Anyone that gets her is going to have their life forever changed by this magical soul.
