My Story

Qannik (Inuit for Snowflake) is a 2.5 months old (Nov 9/09) mixed breed puppy. He was found wandering alone in the woods near the reserve. We are unsure of his breeding but he seems to have some Golden Retriever and Samoyed in him, although he is a bit on the small side for his age so he may be mixed with a smaller breed. As always, we can not guarantee breed or size when grown when we are unable to see the parents! Whatever breed he may be, he is adorable! He resembles a cute and cuddly teddy bear! Qannik is a very sweet and loving puppy. He loves attention and will snuggle up to your neck when he is being held. He was good about being bathed although he cried at the hair dryer. Qannik is in a foster home and doing well. Here are some comments from his foster mom: Here's some words from his foster mom: Right now he is 10" high at the shoulder and 10" from chest to butt and is as cute as a teddy bear. He's learned to sit before I put his food down and for treats, and has also learned to sleep through the night in his crate. He is not housetrained yet because of his age but he's slowly learning to use newspaper and puppy pads. He's doing really well with the pooping on the paper but the peeing is very hit and miss yet. Of course, as all puppies, he's starting into the chewing stage which will last for 5 or 6 months yet while he gets his adult teeth. I've made sure he has toys and Alpo chew-eez for him to chew on. He's quite playful but still mouths a bit but we're working on discouraging him putting his teeth on us. Right now I have another foster pup with him which also helps drain his energy. He does love to snuggle up under your chin for a good cuddle now and then. Qannik does have a squealing bark when he wants something but he's slowly learning to whine instead. When he shreaks I put him outside for a few minutes, trying to get him to realize that barking means to go outside to pee.
