He is a poster child for why an invisible fence should not be used to contain your pet. He was a happy, carefree, well-adjusted puppy until his family put a shock collar on him when he was between 6 and 7 months old. After undoubtedly being shocked several times for reasons he didn’t understand, he became afraid of him own shadow. He has come quite a long way since leaving the invisible fence, but he still is shy with new people and situations. Because of this shyness, we do not recommend Quixote around children under 12 years of age.
Quixote has begun Basic Obedience training and is enjoying it. He is very food motivated which makes training him easy. He is working on SIT, DOWN, COME, SHAKE, STAND, WAIT and HEEL.
Quixote is houstrained and crate trained and enjoys going for walks with his Gentle Leader. He bonds quickly, enjoying tactile reinforcement. One of his favorite things to do is to run between your legs! He also loves to lay in your lap and snooze or snuggle along side you on the bed for a nap!
He is fine with other dogs, cats, and he lived with children ages 8 and 9. He is very playful with dogs his own age and will play tennis ball fetch with his humans on occasion. He really is a very nice dog, very easy to live with--he just wants to be your best friend!
Quixote is neutered, current on Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella vaccinations, he is heartworm tested and mediated, he is microchipped with the HomeAgain microchip, he is attending Basic Obedience classes, and he comes with his own Gentle Leader. All of this for an Adoption fee of $165.
