My Story

3/19/09: Tiffany wants no more than to sit on your lap and be loved. When she is not on your lap she is laying on your feet. She longs to be with someone all the time (retired person perhaps?) and just be spoiled.... Tiffany is a very special dog rescued from a local puppy mill. Our rescue became aware of this puppy mill a few years ago when we were able to rescue some puppies from a life at the "breeding farm". The former owner fell ill recently and said she was downsizing and would only be keeping "a few" of her dogs so we made the trip again to see if we could help. Once we got there, we saw 15-20 dogs living in hell. Matted hair, fleas, skin infections and hot spots were just the tip of the iceberg that these dogs had to deal with day in and day out. Some dogs were so matted that they could barely move around, we were told these were "seniors" and her "babies" that she couldn't bear to part with. What a very sad situation for these poor dogs. Ultimately, we were able to rescue 3 dogs, Tiffany was one of them. We were told she was 2 years old and very shy but a good dog overall. Well, she is not shy and is probably more like 3-4 years old. Tiffany is said to be a maltese, shih-tzu mix but since the dogs were bred constantly without any discretion, she probably has other breeds in her background as well. At a petite 9#, she is an outgoing girl that would do best in a home with adults and older children (if any at all) since she has not previously been exposed to them. Tiffany is a little shadow dog since she follows her foster mom around no matter what the plan. Aside from a flea infestation, it was determined at her vet appointment that she had a uterine infection called a "pyometra" and an emergency spay was performed. She also had her teeth cleaned when she was under anesthesia so she has a pearly white smile to start her new life with. Tiffany is now ready to go to some lucky family's home, maybe yours? It's amazing to think that with all that was going on with her, she is still such a wonderful, trusting little dog. Tiffany does well with the other dogs and cats of the house and would love to find a new home where she could have a soft place to lay her head at night and lots of hugs and kisses during the day. She has been vaccinated and heartworm tested negative, dewormed, delfead, spayed and had a dental cleaning. Due to the increased cost to get Tiffany better, an adoption donation of $350 is being asked to cover a portion of her expenses. If you've been looking for a quiet, bouncy little dog who needs you as much as you need her, please fill out an application from our front page and email it to [email protected]. Thank You.

Please copy and paste a completed adoption application from our homepage with your inquiry if you would like a response back. We get dozens of emails and phone calls each day with only an hour of "free time" to volunteer and answer them around our full-time jobs and family life...don't let your inquiry get passed by because of an incomplete application. Thanks in advance for your help!
Help our rescue by donating to our "Spay the momma fund". When adopting one of our babies, if each new family would contribute an extra $10 we can help out that babies mother by assisting with the cost of her spay. Help turn the momma into a pet rather than a breeding factory, donate today!
Adoptions limited to a 500 mile radius of Pulaski, NY and pets must be viewed in person by all family members prior to adoption; animals will not be shipped to their new homes.
