9/23/2009-Great news!!!! Trigger, kna Trixie, has been adopted by a wonderful AWF volunteer!!!!!

Trigger is a 12 y.o. tri-color Australian Shepherd. Very well behaved, housebroken, good obedience. Very sweet girl. Good with people dogs and cats. OK with little kids but not fond of them. No health issues other than inability to gain weight due to her age (normal). Walks well on leash. She’s very camera shy for some reason. The first step to AWF's adoption process is to fill out an Adoption Application.

The adoption fee is on a sliding scale; $90 to $150.


All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, tested for heartworm to ensure they are negative and are on flea and heartworm preventative.



No adoptions outside of an approx. 50-mile radius of Cedar Rapids. In some instances, we are able to make an adoption outside of the radius work (but this varies on a case by case basis and may depend on where you live). The limited radius is due to a mandatory home visit needing to be done at the adoptive home by a rescue volunteer.

Breed Disclosure: Due to the fact that most of our adoptable pets are strays, we can not guarantee their breed. We list the pet’s breed as the one that best matches the physical appearance, temperament, and personality of the animal. The pet may also be listed as a mix when it’s actually a purebred.
