Approximate age: Probably 9 years +, but Pekes can live a long time and this guy seems to have a lot of life left in him. His eyes are a little cloudy but it’s not from cataracts, it’s from dry eyes which is fairly common to this breed. There isn’t anything that can be done at this point but daily eye drops will prevent any further damage. The more eye drops he gets each day the better.
Personality: Winston is a big personality packed into a little body. He is hilarious and a bit of a drama king. He loves to “talk” and makes the funniest noises. He’ll come running up to you and lay down so that you can rub his belly. Otherwise he’s happy to follow you around to see what’s going on or lay quietly on the floor.
Forever home: Winston would prefer to be the star of the show by being the only dog in the household. (He tries to be the dominant dog in his foster home and gets very upset when other dogs approach his food and water.) Ideally someone home for most of the day to keep him company and give him belly-rubs/eye drops would be perfect. Winston is completely housetrained and will not be ready to be adopted until he has been neutered. Winston will not be ready to be adopted until he has been neutered and gets a clean bill of health.

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175, or $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. With few exceptions, we show our adoptable animals on Saturdays from 12pm - 3pm at Petco in Novi (on Novi Rd south of 12 mile) or Petco in Farmington Hills (Orchard Lake south of 14 mile). Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
