My Story

Mozzarella is a baby leopard gecko born on 5/19/2024. Leopard geckos are solitary animals, so they cannot be housed together or with other resident geckos. This little baby seems to have minimal to no eye sight. This means they need help with feeding as they cannot find the food themselves. Luckily they are very easy to feed and have accepted tong feedings with no issues. You can still offer a variety of prey to them as long as you are able to get it in the grasps of the tongs, they will be able to snatch on it and eat. Since they have sight issues, we would not recommend tall branches and enrichment items. They still climb and enjoy having different areas to move around in, but height needs to be minimal. Once fully grown, they will still enjoy a spacious enclosure, you will just have to make some minor adjustments to make sure that it is safe for them. Once you have them moved into their new set up, you won't want to change things around too much on them as they have learned where all their items are. They enjoy being on their small bridge and spreading out and they also really enjoy their moist hide. Baby leopard geckos are a great starter reptile for families that are ready to commit to care for 20 years. These young babies were just weeks old when we got them surrendered to us from a local pet store after dropping their tail. The tail has grown back so it looks a little different than you would expect. These babies will need a proper size enclosure for the various stages of life, so they will start off in a 20 gallon tank and when they mature they would prefer to have more space and enrichment in a 40 gallon tank. They are used to handling as they are weighed frequently to monitor their growth. As long as you continue with handling, they will do just fine being handled frequently. Mozzarella's adoption fee is $40. If you're interested in learning more about them, please email us at [email protected]. We're a foster-based rescue located in the Olympia area. At this time we cannot accommodate adoptions outside of Washington. We do not ship animals.
